We're back on line sorry for the wait!

Due to unforeseen difficulties (computer crash) I've been unable to access the blog. Gaddefly was good enough to help me figure this one out. Sorry if you haven't seen your postings, but this is why.

I hope you will continue to write in as you all have very good things to say!

So onward and upward. Has anyone noticed how much money is being spent already in the new fiscal year!? Can you believe dear bloggers that the Fort spent 7% of next years budget on the 4th of July weekend alone. Do you fear what I fear?

When will HMG stop letting this happen to us? I believe it is something they can control, but instead bury their heads in the sand and pretend it will all work out.

Now too we have two more difficult cases on the admission teams and no funding in sight. When will they learn? We can't keep cutting our noses off to spite our face and live on to tell about it. I for one would like to know where the money is going to come from. Of course we can't get OT still (saw that one coming a long while back). HSS is doing a booming business at the old Fort. Can this actually be cheaper than paying some of us OT? You tell me.

Glad to be back. Hope to hear from you soon!

Oh, please be careful and research your information before posting. I heard that the Ft. used 7% of the Month's budget on just the one day this month. I agree, however, that something seems wry with the spending here. I wish HMG would let the workers know their obsticles and unique circumstances if just to cut down on the "guessing" of their actions.

I would not be surprised if HMG used 7% of its budget in one day. It's called "contract renewal" It is typical in a new year to issue annual contracts for services that last the entire year. I don't work for the hospital but, before speaking poorly it might be worth learning.

I wish the hospital would let us know what is going on and their grand scheme on the future of this place. Did you see that they have hired CNAs now; I wonder how much psych experience that they have. I am just disappointed that they would hire low wage CNAs that have no psychiatric experience or education. Hell, who knows they might replace me with some homeless guy holding a sign off the Colorado exit, I heard he can read and has a resume. Besides he’ll work for food and not money. Just Joking! They are hiring a bunch of internal pool, but correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t internal pool qualify for benefits too? Would that not be more expensive in the long run also? When is the Union going to get in here and protect us from the incompetent management? This has to be the scariest group of leaders that I have ever worked under. How do they stay in a job when they ran over budget, hospital looks like shet or a homeless shelter (I have seen better furniture on episodes of “Welcome back, Kotter”).

Really I have never worked anywhere that the Social Worker case loads are so low and they run or lead anything, but groups. The social workers here are team leaders that make more than in demand published Adjunct professors at the best Colorado Universities or a D.O.N. in charge of entire nursing homes. I mean come on if they were truly worried about cost they would increase case loads to that of the private sector and eliminate team leader positions. There is your savings!

How about the grand scheme of Psych-social rehab and our fearless leaders’ thoughts on this? Hey, leadership this place is known as a WAREHOUSE by the private sector. I know I have worked out there this is the last stop and it is not like they are bringing anyone in with experience in this part of the field. Noooooooo, just our fearless leaders and what they learned at a couple of workshops sponsored by Elitch Gardens.

Okay, I’m done, but I will stick around long enough to get some more laughs before I run back to the private sector (or transfer) and tell my new coworkers about this place and the look of disbelief they all display on how a hospital can be so dysfunctional and not be closed.

If you did work at this “hospital” you would understand how truly plausible it would sound given the level or lack thereof of leadership to likely waste so much money already. In addition, this is a shiny example of how people make it into management in Government entities with no leadership, business/accounting, or healthcare management skills and the predictable outcome of failure, ballooning budgets, questionable use of tax payer funds, inappropriate relationships, amoral behavior, and very limited goal and vision that make us easy fodder for the local newspapers. How long do you think any of our leaders would last at Exempla or Kaiser? Okay I’ll be generous six months, long enough to find a replacement. Many come back from these places saying how horrible it was, but the truth is they were never management material in the first place.
