The Banana Peel Brigade

My friend and I were talking the other day about current events.

There have been some since my last post.  There was the election...and now, various cabinet appointments.....and there has been The Dakota Pipeline stand off with the Standing Rock folks.....

And we, both of us old people, were bemoaning the fact that at our age, we're not much help even though, because of our age, we know that much help is needed.  And my friend proposed the Banana Peel Brigade.  Which I immediately loved.  And she immediately gave all rights too....although I'm saying right here, was her idea.  (If there was a bunch of bananas, she'd be the top banana.)

The Banana Peel Brigade is a united group of old folks, like us, with "one foot in the grave, and one foot on a banana peel" who are willing to present themselves as the front line in any confrontational moment with authorities.   We would be a line of old folks that simply stand (or sit if we need wheelchairs) between protesters and the oppressors.   Since we have one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel, we actually do not care if we get shot....and it protects the younger folks behind us who are doing the hard work.  I mean, really, how will the TV audience react to old grannies and grandpas getting shot or even tear-gassed by the SWAT team??

It's brilliant, I think.

Everyone I've told it to, thinks it's brilliant.  My daughter suggested we all wear banana colored robes....just picture it....all these old guys, in yellow robes standing on one side, and all these police, etc. in all their gear on the other side.....what a F'ing great picture!!.

So I think I'll start a Facebook page for the Banana Peel Brigade...see if anyone else likes the idea...see if anybody wants to sign up...

Because I suspect there's going to be more protesting going on.
Don't you?
